Yesterday, the Naval Academy was honored to welcome Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy MCPON (SS/SW) Rick D. West to the Yard, and USNA Band bassoonist and band historian, MUCM David Hanner was chosen to lead him on a guided tour. They were accompanied by a group of outstanding sailors from the Naval Academy and Naval Station Annapolis, including USNA Band’s 2011 Senior Sailor of the Year, MUC Amy Jarjoura. The tour included the Naval Academy Chapel, John Paul Jones Crypt, Tecumseh Court, Memorial Hall, and, of course, the Charles A. Zimmerman bandstand.
